Steven B. Cowan, PhD

Steven B. Cowan is Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religion and Director of the Philosophy and Religion Program at Lincoln Memorial University. He is the author of numerous scholarly and popular articles in philosophy of religion and philosophical theology. His scholarly articles have appeared in such journals as Religious Studies Faith and Philosophy, and Philosophia Christi. His is the co-editor (with James Spiegel) of the forthcoming Idealism and Christian Philosophy (Bloomsbury). He is also the co-author (with James Spiegel) of The Love of Wisdom: A Christian Introduction to Philosophy (Broadman & Holman), and co-editor (With Terry Wilder) of In Defense of the Bible: A Comprehensive Apologetic for the Authority of Scripture (Broadman & Holman), as well as the editor of Five Views on Apologetics (Zondervan) and Who Runs the Church? Four Views on Church Government (Zondervan). was born and raised in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Cowan graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi (BA Sociology), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div), and University of Arkansas (MA, Ph.D, Philosophy). He and his wife have a very precocious 10-year old son named Oliver, and they live in Rose Hill, Virginia.
