EPS at AAR/SBL: Modernizing The Beatific Vision

November 30, 2020
Virtual Meeting via AAR/SBL Registration

4:00 - 5:30 PM (EST)

Modernizing The Beatific Vision: Philosophical and Scientific Perspectives of the Visio Dei

Historically, the doctrine of beatific vision was an essential piece of Christian doctrine, which described the purpose for which humans are created. This purpose was described as an immaterial and intellectual grasping of the Divine nature. In the present panel discussion, the authors advance distinct disciplinary proposals for how to think about the doctrine of beatific vision. The primary question guiding the discussion is: What is the nature of beatific vision and is there a plausible modern way of making sense of the doctrine of beatific vision
